Q: What was your background prior to joining Fidelity?

I came straight from college to my job in Fidelity.

Q: How long have you been with Fidelity?

I started working for Fidelity in September 2004 as part of the GIFT program.

Q: What made you choose to work with Fidelity?

There were a number of reasons that I wanted to work for Fidelity. I felt that the GIFT program was an excellent learning opportunity. I had previously heard of the company through friends that worked in various offices in Boston, and the feedback I received was all very positive - particularly with regards to the progression of your career and the various benefits associated with working here.

Q: What words would you use to describe your colleagues?

Friendly, outgoing and helpful.

Q: What type of person can be successful in Fidelity?

I think anybody can be successful in Fidelity as long as they are honest and hardworking and prepared to share their experience and knowledge with others.

Q: How has Fidelity supported your Learning & Development?

This is one of the areas that Fidelity has really supported me in. After receiving my Diploma in Computing and Web Application Development through GIFT, I then applied to sit the Java Certification Exam. I completed this last December and then I attended a seven day advanced Flash course. I am now just back from a trip to Boston where I attended a custom in house Flex training course.

Q: What else can you tell us about ‘life’ at Fidelity?

When I started this job, I really didn’t know what to expect as it was my first “real” job. I was really surprised at the amount of events for staff both in and outside the office. The Sports and Social club and the charity committee organise lots of different fun things to do that help you to get to know your colleagues. Also, every year we have a company day out on the 4th of July.

Q: Do you have any advice for prospective employees?

I suppose the best thing to do is just to be yourself in the interview and relax.
