Interview Tips from Fidelity Managers & Technical Consultants

Making sure you prepare effectively for an interview is important. Here are some tips to help you get ready.

Fidelity's interviewing style is behaviour-based. This means our hiring managers and recruiters will ask about specific situations you've been in and your accomplishments.

  • Prepare real life examples from college and work experience
  • Review the content of your CV and be prepared to speak about project work and internships/work experience
  • Familiarize yourself with the job description
  • Research the company
  • Prepare a list of questions for the interviewers
  • Ask friends or family to help you practice
  • Dress professionally
  • Know the location of the interview and how to get there - Be punctual
  • If interviewing for the Development Stream, it is helpful to be able to discuss and show an understanding of:
    • OO concepts
    • Java (or other solid programming) skills
    • Database skills
    • SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
  • If interviewing for the System Analysis Stream, it is helpful to be able to discuss and show an understanding of:
    • Technologies
    • SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
    • Requirements gathering
    • Test preparation and execution
    • UML (Unified Modelling Language)

  • Know your CV thoroughly and be prepared to answer questions on college projects and previous work experience

  • Relax, smile and be confident but not over confident
  • Be positive, but honest about yourself and your abilities
  • Acknowledge weaknesses but present them as strengths
  • Ask questions to show interest in the Company and the position
