Hi. My name is Deirdre Harney and I took part in the Systems Analysis stream in GIFT. My Masters was orientated around analysis so when I found out that GIFT offered this role I was excited. As I had only been studying IT for 2 years I was worried that my lack of experience would hold me back but the class work as a team throughout training as well as in projects. People here in Fidelity are always willing to help each other out and you will find yourself lending a hand now and then as well. It is all a learning experience that allows you to become the best you can in your career. |

The class consisted of 20 developers and 5 Analysts. We all trained together initially before splitting into role specific training. The analysts’ stream consisted of training in such things as Use-Case based requirements analysis, Business Requirements Specifications and Project Management. We were placed on projects about 6 weeks before developers to meet customers and produce requirements. It was intimidating but exciting and the managers and technical leads in GIFT are always ready to advise you and give you a helping hand. The GIFT program definitely eases the transition from university to a professional environment. We all enter as graduates and though you may enter the GIFT program on your own, the experience will allow you to build friendships as well as a strong foundation for a successful career.
