Preparing a CV

Your CV is your most important marketing tool. Its primary purpose is to get you an interview, therefore it is vital that your CV is well presented and clearly structured. Here are some tips to help you prepare your CV.

• Education Details (include leaving certificate and college results, most recent first)
• Skills
• Work Experience & Volunteer Experience
• Referees

General Tips

• Keep the CV to 2 pages or less
• Keep fonts simple and easy to read
• Ensure the CV layout is clear and easy to follow (i.e. use bold for headings)
• Use bullet points rather than paragraphs
• Ensure dates are accurate for college and work experience
• Tailor the content to be job/company specific
• Make sure there are no spelling or grammatical errors
• Ask people to review your CV and provide feedback
